ABOUT
Read the bill. Jamie Pedersen wrote Washington’s new 9.9% income tax — ESSB 6346 (Chapter 238, Laws of 2026). Under the law, only individuals are subject to the tax. A corporation is not an individual, so it never gets the bill. Individuals and families pay; small-business owners pay too, because their income is reported on a personal return. Pedersen also amended the state’s pension statutes so that pension income is not exempt from the tax. The tax he built to skip every corporation was written so it does not skip a pension.

“It’s always the right time to undo bad decisions by the Supreme Court that keep us mired in a broken, upside-down tax system.”
— Jamie Pedersen, Senate Majority Leader
